विधानसभा चम्पावत से उपचुनाव लड़ रही कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी निर्मला गहतोड़ी ने चुनाव में सत्ता का दुरुपयोग करने और उनके कार्यकर्ताओं को डराने का आरोप लगाते हुए जिलाधिकारी कार्यालय में धरने में बैठ गई। उन्होंने चेतावनी कहा कि जब तक जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी उचित कार्रवाई नहीं करते तब तक वह धरने में बैठे रहेंगी।
मंगलवार को कांग्रेस प्रत्याशी निर्मला गहतोड़ी शाम चार बजकर 23 मिनट में जिलाधिकारी कार्यालय परिसर में गोविंद बल्लभ पंत की मूर्ति के पास धरने में बैठ गई। उन्होंने बीजेपी सरकार पर गंभीर आरोप लगाया। उन्होंने कहा कि उपचुनाव में भाजपा सत्ता का दुरुपयोग कर रही है। मतदान के दिन उनके कार्यकर्ताओं को डराया धमकाया गया। कई बूथों से उनके अभिकर्ताओं को जबरन डरा कर भगाया गया। जब इसकी शिकायत जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी, सेक्टर मजिस्ट्रेट से की गई तो कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की गई।
प्रत्याशी निर्मला ने कहा लोकतंत्र का गला घोटने की कोशिश की जा रही है। जिसके खिलाफ वह धरना दे रही है। भाजपा कार्यकर्ताओं की गुंडागर्दी को पूरा प्रशासनिक अमला नजरअंदाज कर रहा है। कहा कि भाजपा और आरएसएस के कार्यकर्ताओं ने बूथों के अंदर जाकर मतदान प्रभावित किया लेकिन सूचना के बाद भी जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी ने उन पर कोई कार्रवाई नहीं की।
उन्होंने चुनाव आयोग की कार्यप्रणाली पर भी सवाल खड़े किए। कहा कि आयोग भाजपा कार्यकर्ताओं की दादागिरी देखता रहा। गहतोड़ी ने कहा कि बीते 30 मई को चुनाव प्रचार खत्म होने के बाद मुख्यमंत्री व प्रत्याशी ने मोटरसाइकिल में प्रचार सामग्रियों के साथ रैली निकाली। इस पर भी चुनाव आयोग की नजर नहीं पड़ी। क्यों नही उनके खिलाफ एक भी कार्रवाई की गई।
इन घटनाओं से स्पष्ट हो गया है कि चुनाव आयोग की मंशा क्या है। चुनाव आयोग पूरे मामले की गंभीरता से जांच कर उपचुनाव रद्द करे। उन्होंने चेतावनी देते हुए कहा कि जब तक जिला निर्वाचन अधिकारी मौके पर नहीं आएंगे और सकारात्मक कार्रवाई नहीं करेंगे तब तक धरना जारी रहेगा। खबर लिखे जाने तक निर्मला गहतोड़ी का धरना जारी था।
