चम्पावत उपचुनाव में ऐतिहासिक जीत के बाद धामी का चेहरा आत्मविश्वास से भरा नजर आया। वह बुधवार को रामपुर रोड स्थित एक होटल में आयोजित कार्यसमिति के अंतिम सत्र में 50 मिनट तक खुलकर बोले। उन्होंने खटीमा से खुद की हार का जिक्र सीधे नहीं किया, लेकिन इतना कहा, हार जाओ जिंदगी में सबकुछ, फिर भी जीत की उम्मीद जिंदा रखो। जब उन्होंने यह कहा तो कई नेता धामी जिंदाबाद के नारे लगने लगे। सीएम ने आगे कहा, हमारा ऐसा परिवार है, जहां हम एक-दूसरे से सुख-दुख बांट सकते हैं। अगर हम आपस में एक दिन भी बात न करें तो हमें उदास लगना चाहिए।
सीएम ने इस इस बात के जरिये आपसी सामंजस्य पर जोर दिया। एकजुट होने के लिए प्रेरित किया। साथ मिलकर लक्ष्य हासिल करने की अपील भी की। इसके अतिरिक्त सीएम ने जरूरत से ज्यादा महत्वाकांक्षा रखने वालों के लिए भी नसीहत देते हुए कहा, हर किसी का काम बोलता है। खुद बोलने से कुछ नहीं होगा। हर स्तर पर मानिटरिंग होते रहती है। अब शार्टकर्ट का जमाना नहीं है। लक्ष्य हासिल करने में परेशानियां तो आएंगी ही। सीएम का यह संदेश ऐसे समय में अधिक महत्वपूर्ण है कि जब कैबिनेट में दो और मंत्रियों के अलावा दायित्यधारी बनाए जाने हैं।

सीएम ने बैठक को संबोधित करते हुए कहा कि मैं भाषण नहीं दे रहा हूं। यहां भाषणबाजी तो हो नहीं रही है। उन्होंने मंत्रियों, पदाधिकारियों, विधायकों की ओर इशारा करते हुए कहा कि वैसे भी आप सभी भाषण देने वाले हैं। मैं तो केवल प्रमुख विषयों का स्मरण करा रहा हूं। आप लोगों की शक्ति याद दिला रहा हूं। उसी तरह, जैसे हनुमान को शक्ति याद दिलाई गई थी। ऐसा कहते हुए सीएम ने नसीहत भी दे डाली कि आम व लीची से लदे पेड़ जिस तरह झुक जाते हैं, उसी तरह आप सभी की स्थिति है। जनता ने हमें प्रचंड बहुमत दिया है। अब हमें फलों से लदे पेड़ की तरह झुककर जनता की सेवा करनी है। इस बात को बोलते हुए सीएम कहने लगे, क्यों तीरथ दा (पूर्व सीएम) मैं अच्छी बात बोल रहा हूं कि नहीं।
