मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने शनिवार को एकलव्य विद्यालय खटीमा मैदान में पहुँचकर एकलव्य आदर्श आवासीय विद्यालय समेत 45 करोड़ 54 लाख 49 हज़ार की विभिन्न योजनाओं का लोकार्पण एवं 223 करोड़ 37 लाख 82 हजार की 84 योजनाओं का शिलान्यास किया। इस दौरान मुख्यमंत्री ने घोषणा करते हुए कहा कि उत्तराखण्ड में खेल विश्वविद्यालय का निर्माण हो रहा है जिसका नाम महाराणा प्रताप के नाम पर रखा जाएगा। खटीमा में कंजाबाग तिराहे का नाम महाराणा प्रताप के नाम पर रखा जाएगा। इस चौराहे पर महाराणा प्रताप की प्रतिमा स्थापित की जाएगी।खटीमा में महाराणा प्रताप प्रशासनिक एकेडमी प्रशिक्षण केंद्र का निर्माण किया जाएगा। खटीमा के जनजातीय बाहुल्य क्षेत्रों में भूमसेन का निर्माण किया जाएगा।
कार्यक्रम के दौरान अपने सम्बोधन में मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि खटीमा की जनता के समर्थन के बूते मुख्य सेवक के रूप में उन्हें काम करने का मौका मिला और जब भी हुए खटीमा आते हैं भावविभोर हो जाते हैं। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि खटीमा का थारू जनजातीय समाज सरल स्वभाव के साथ-साथ ईमानदार व्यक्तित्व का भी धनी है। जनजातीय समूहों का जीवन संस्कृति का एक विशेष दर्शन है जो प्रकृति के साथ समन्वय बिठाकर जीवन जीते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि खटीमा की धरती स्वतंत्रता संग्राम की धरती रही है यहां से अनेक वीरों ने जन्म लिया है, चाहे राज्य गठन का आंदोलन हो या स्वतंत्रता संग्राम की घटना इस धरती का इतिहास वीरता के उदाहरणों से भरा हुआ है। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि उनका हमेशा से सपना था कि खटीमा में कोई ऐसा संस्थान होना चाहिए जिसके माध्यम से जनजातीय बच्चे बहुत शानदार तरीके से आगे बढ़ें। अब वो सपना एकलव्य आवासीय विद्यालय के रूप में साकार हो रहा है जो जनजातीयों के विकास में मील का पत्थर साबित होगा।
मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने कहा कि आज प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी के नेतृत्व में सैनिकों का सम्मान बढ़ा है। चार दशक पुरानी वन रैंक वन पेंशन की मांग को केन्द्र सरकार ने पूरा किया है। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि प्रधानमंत्री जी के नेतृत्व में उत्तराखंड विकास के पथ पर निरंतर आगे बढ़ रहा है। प्रदेश में चार धाम ऑल वेदर रोड, केदारनाथ धाम और बदरीनाथ धाम के पुनर्निर्माण, ऋषिकेश-कर्णप्रयाग रेल लाइन, टनकपुर बागेश्वर रेल लाइन, कुमाऊं क्षेत्र में एम्स का सेटेलाइट सेंटर की स्थापना जैसे एक लाख करोड़ के विकास कार्य प्रदेश में चल रहे हैं। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि हम चाहते कि हमारा युवा आत्मनिर्भर बने जिसके लिए हम स्वरोजगार से जुड़ी अनेक योजनाओं को संचालित कर रहे हैं। कार्यक्रम में मुख्यमंत्री धामी ने घोषणा करते हुए कहा कि आने वाले समय में खटीमा में बाईपास की सुविधा मिलेगी, साथ ही जल्द खटीमा को नए बस अड्डे के निर्माण भी होगा ।
