गुरुवार को मुख्यमंत्री पुष्कर सिंह धामी ने जनपद नैनीताल में रुपए “7 करोड़ 17 लाख” लागत से केंद्रीय सड़क निधि के अंतर्गत निर्मित रानीबाग भीमताल पदमपुरी लोहाघाट पंचेश्वर राज्यमार्ग टू -लेन ’ए’ क्लास लोडिंग स्टील गार्डर पुल का लोकार्पण किया। इस अवसर पर केंद्रीय रक्षा राज्य मंत्री अजय भट्ट भी मौजूद रहे।
सीएम धामी ने कहा कि टू लेन पुल के शुरू होने से अब अल्मोड़ा, पिथौरागढ़, बागेश्वर, चंपावत और नैनीताल के पर्वतीय क्षेत्रों को जाने वाले लोगों को काफी आसानी होगी। उन्होंने कहा कि यह पुल कुमाऊँ की लाइफ लाइन है जिससे पूरे कुमाऊँ का कारोबार जुड़ा हुआ है। अक्सर यहां पर सिंगल लेन पुल होने की वजह से जाम लगा करता था, लेकिन अब इस पुल के बनने से कुमाऊं के पर्वतीय इलाकों में जाने वाले सैलानियों को भी जाम की दिक्कत नहीं होगी। मुख्यमंत्री ने कहा कि इस पुल पर भारी वाहनों का आवागमन होने से क्षेत्र का आर्थिक एवं सामाजिक विकास के साथ-साथ क्षेत्र का चहुमुखी विकास होगा।
ज्ञातव्य है कि वर्तमान में उक्त पुराने पुल से लगभग 3600 कार व जीप 2500 दुपहिया वाहन, 2000 छोटे वाणिज्य वाहन एवं 150 बसें तथा 1750 ट्रक (दो एक्सेल) इत्यादि, औसतन 10,000 वाहनों का प्रतिदिन आवागमन होता है। उक्त टू लेन ए क्लास लोडिंग पुल के बन जाने से मल्टी एक्सेल ट्रकों एवं अन्य वाहनों के आवागमन में वृद्धि होगी।
