In January, the government had given orders to two companies to buy 1,000 buses. These companies have not yet provided buses, but there have been allegations of irregularities in this purchase. It is being said that more than the cost of the buses will be spent on their maintenance for three years, while according to the terms of the purchase, the responsibility of maintaining these buses for three years should be of the supplying company.
The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) of Delhi Police sought permission from the state government to investigate the matter, but the government’s approval was not given. In this regard, now BJP MLA Vijender Gupta has written a letter to Lieutenant Governor (LG) Anil Baijal. In the letter, he has claimed that financial irregularities have been detected in the internal investigation of the Transport Department regarding the purchase of buses. He has requested the Lieutenant Governor to get the ACB’s permission for investigation at the earliest.
In a letter to Lieutenant Governor Anil Baijal on Monday, Vijender Gupta has said that in January, orders were placed to buy one thousand low floor buses for Rs 890 crore. Of these, 700 buses were ordered to JBM Auto Limited and 300 buses to Tata Company. The contract for the purchase of the buses included the responsibility of maintaining it for three years or 2.10 lakh km. Despite this, for the maintenance of the buses, the same bus companies were given a tender of Rs 350 crore per year separately and the warranty period of three years was also included in it. That is, the maintenance has to be paid from the very first day itself.
